Artistic meets Opera
Claudia Ellert is a multidisciplinary stage performer working at the intersection of opera, theatre, and circus. With a Performing Arts education at the Italia Conti Academy in London and decades of training in acrobatics, aerial arts, dance, yoga, and martial arts, she brings a unique repertoire of movement skills to the stage. Her speciality lies in taking on physically demanding, acrobatic, or high-risk roles and stunts that are often too challenging for opera singers and actors. Additionally, she works as a coach, helping performers prepare for such roles.
My repertoire of movement arts
Aerial Arts
Aerial arts combine elements of dance, acrobatics, and strength training, resulting in both aesthetically captivating and physically demanding performances. These movements require high levels of fitness, strength, flexibility, and body control, as complex poses and acrobatic figures are performed at heights, often without safety equipment. Aerial arts are especially well-known in the circus world. I specialize in these forms:
Aerial Silks: Acrobatics using long fabric tissues, which the artist climbs, drops from, and creates intricate shapes in mid-air. Video.
Aerial Hoop: A metal hoop suspended in the air, where the acrobat performs elegant gymnastic tricks.
Stunt
Stunts are spectacular physical actions designed to portray dangerous or intense scenes realistically. They require specialized skills to ensure they are performed safely. As a stuntwoman I offer following types of stunts:
Stunt Stage Fighting: Choreographed combat scenes where fighters perform moves that look dangerous but ensure the safety of the performers.
Hanging Stunt: Aerial arts using ropes and harness to create the illusion of floating, flying or falling.
Aerial Stunts: House-running, vertical dance, flights, or acrobatic maneuvers, using steel cables and a stunt harness.
Body Stunts (Falls): Controlled falls executed in a way that appears realistic.
Fire
Fire performances are captivating displays where performers wield fire instruments to create mesmerizing patterns and movements. I use the following fire techniques:
Fire Poi Swinging: The performer swings burning balls (pois) attached to chains around her body, creating flowing, circular movements.
Fire Snakes Swinging: Similar to poi, but with burning ropes, which produce wider and more expressive flame patterns.
Fire Fans: Fan-shaped objects with multiple burning ends that, through graceful spins and movements, craft aesthetic fire patterns in the air.
Dance
An expressive art form that embodies different techniques and emotions depending on the style. My repertoire includes:
Ballet: A classical dance style characterized by precise, elegant movements and an upright posture.
Jazz Dance: A lively and energetic dance style known for quick, isolated body movements and expressive flair.
Contemporary Dance: A modern dance style that emphasizes emotional expression, flowing movements, and creative floor work, often allowing for personal interpretation.
Pole Dance: Originally from acrobatics, pole dance combines strength, flexibility, and dance movements on a vertical pole.
Circus Arts
Circus arts combine skill, body control, and creativity, blending strength, agility and visual aesthetics. Here is a brief overview of my specialized acts:
Hand-to-Hand Balance (Partner Acrobatics): Two or more acrobats work together to perform impressive balancing acts. The repertoire includes duos and trios of both female and mixed-gender teams. Short video.
Stilt Walking: Moving and dancing on extended legs, adding an imposing height. Often combined with balloon modelling, clowning and more.
Poi Spinning: Weights attached to strings are swung in rhythmic patterns around the body. Variants like LED or fire poi add spectacular visual effects.
Let's achieve great things together. Don't hesitate to contact me.
